Our Client

Hyster lift trucks, a global leader in lift truck manufacturing and sales since 1929.

Our Challenge

In recent years, Hyster's brand image had become watered down. It had ceased to own "tough" in the minds of end users, though they still made one of the toughest lift trucks on the planet. Their tagline at the time, "The SAFE Choice," certainly didn't convey this legacy of toughness. JMG was retained to help reality defeat perception.

Our Solution

We worked closely with Hyster to pull critical insights from brand image studies and assess the strategic gap between their current and desired positioning. To bridge that gap, we helped create a new strategic platform based on the "toughness" attribute—one that the brand could legitimately claim and rightfully own. This platform became the driver for a totally new, tough-minded, integrated marketing campaign that showcased Hyster lift trucks hard at work in their toughest applications (along with the people whose jobs they made easier). Aptly named "Bring It," the campaign was launched to employees, dealers, and end user targets via advertising, PR, collateral, trade shows, event marketing, digital communications and dealer marketing materials. As a result, the toughest lift trucks on the planet have reclaimed their throne as the toughest lift trucks on the planet.
