History is making history every day. Seizing the potential of the History brand, we are embracing opportunities to tell immersive, authentic and powerful stories. As the leading destination for all things history, our hit series and event specials cover a variety of genres, including natural history, pop culture, archaeology, military and exploration. The breadth and depth of our programming speaks to audiences around the dial, and our investments focus on content across all media platforms.

Running on all cylinders, 2008 was a record-breaking year with huge year-over-year gains in adults 25 to 54 and adults 18 to 49. History ended the year as the No. 1 nonfiction network for men 25 to 54 (excluding sports)1 and rose to the top 5 among all ad-supported cable networks in the demo.2 The success continues in 2009 as the network is up 9 percent in adults 25 to 54 and up 10 percent in adults 18 to 49, respectively, from 2008.3 The bar is even higher as History reveals some of the most compelling new and returning series and event specials ever. Back is our American Originals hit series, with "Ax Men" and "Ice Road Truckers"; and our Living History franchise kicks off with "Expedition: Africa" from prolific producer Mark Burnett. Other series joining the lineup are "Cowboys and Outlaws" and "Mystery Quest." Event specials include "The People Speak," "Moon Shot" and the multipart "World War II in HD."

History is everywhere consumers are—a global brand, a new-media brand, a digital brand, a traditional linear brand, a publishing brand and a consumer products brand. And we just keep getting stronger, so stay tuned.

Expedition Africa: Stanley & Livingstone

Four elite explorers travel 970 miles deep into Africa to retrace Stanley's historic journey to find Dr. Livingstone. Using only a compass and basic maps, they cover stunning, epic and unforgiving terrain, facing danger from severe dehydration, deadly diseases and wild animals. (A Mark Burnett production)

From the Bermuda Triangle to the lost city of Atlantis, can modern science shed new light on history's greatest mysteries? MysteryQuest will endeavor to explain the unexplained—using historical evidence, eyewitness accounts and expert analysis.

Cowboys and Outlaws

The legendary embodiment of rugged individualism and independence, cowboys ruled the frontier for a century and a half, settling the American West and carving their way into American mythology. This visually stunning series focuses on the stories and characters of the heroes, and the villains, of this time of conquest, war and opportunity.

The People Speak

History and The People Speak Organization, Voices of a People's History of the United States, have entered into a multitiered marketing and programming event, including a documentary film, cobranded nationwide educational outreach and a wide-ranging interstitial branding campaign. "The People Speak" film focuses on the concept of democracy, based on the lives and experiences of ordinary Americans who, through their words and actions, changed the course of history, and features dramatic performances from such celebrities as Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Viggo Mortensen, as well as musical performances from Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder.

World War II in HD

In a hugely ambitious project using advanced HD technology, History has preserved and restored 3,000 hours of color archival footage from the Greatest Generation at war, footage that most Americans have never before seen. The 10-hour event, supplemented by unpublished diaries, journals, interviews and an explosively resonating Dolby "soundscape," will offer one of the most visually astonishing World War II experiences ever witnessed.
